There is so much beauty in this world. Yet at the same time so much evil and things that really need fixing. What do you guys think the biggest problems are? What solutions do you have?
I would just say as a whole, America is in moral decline. Which i obviously a problem, and right now it is not horrible, but you can tell it is going downhill, slowly, but I feel like it is just getting worse and worse. The only way I feel that it can be fixed really is changing and teaching the youth. Because right now, at least at my old high school the younger kids were just worse and worse.
I disagree with the "moral decline of our youth" concept. If you look at newspapers over the last few centuries, you can find articles about how the new generation is immoral or doesn't have the gusto of the last generation.
I think a bigger problem we have today is giving extremists of all walks of life, a medium to express themselves without any personal accountability. Or also, using the internet to spread hateful and violent speech and terror tactics.
It doesn't help that now-a-days sky is always falling because of information overload. With the advent of the internet, everybody thinks that they are an expert on politics, religion, medicine, etc. because they read it on an unaccredited forum or blog somewhere. This has forced the loss of the "agree to disagree" mentality. Instead, we just argue now.
If anything, a lot of people seem to have forgotten about what's important in life. Ever since the terrorist attack on our country, we've become more and more divided on our all of out major views. The "news" has done it's best to push our collective morale down so much that all you here from even your most spirited friends is doom and gloom about politics, the economy, faith, international relations, food intake, disease, etc.
Our species has come this far, and we're going to let our collective depression bring us down? Thousands of years of harsh environments, disease, disaster, and war, and what may end up putting the nail in the coffin, is our own emotions.
Cheer up, people! It may be cloudy outside, but somewhere past that, the sun is still shining and the world is still turning.
I agree with brian. I believe that americas morals have defiantly suffered. People use to have faith and along with that faith came good morals, ever since the incline in success of people went up, their faith went down. I'm not here to preach but i do believe that morals are down because people are doing things for their own selfish gains.
